Brass semige mane, also known as a shavige mane. It is a traditional South Indian kitchen tool used to make shavige (string hoppers or rice noodles). The tool consists of a cylindrical press with a screw mechanism and a handle. The brass construction gives it a classic and durable appearance, often associated with traditional households.
To use it, dough (typically made from rice flour) is placed inside the press, and the handle is turned to extrude the dough through fine holes, forming delicate noodles. It is commonly used in Karnataka and other southern states for dishes like shavige uppittu, idiyappam, or akki shavige.
